Chapter 28: Questioning A-Ning!
Over a billion... in US dollars?
But reflecting on the strength Wu Yu displayed at the Palace of King Lu Shang, it actually seemed worth that price!
"Good heavens, a thirty percent share is over a billion US dollars? How much does your company make in a year?" Fatty felt his fingers were no longer enough to count: "Say, A-Ning, why don't you take me into your company too? I don't need thirty percent, five percent will do!"
However, A-Ning didn't even glance at Fatty; her gaze remained fixed on Wu Yu, burning with anticipation for his answer.
"Don't look at me like that. Someone might get the wrong idea and think you're interested in me. If that happens, our little naive Wu Xie will get jealous!" Wu Yu bumped his shoulder against Wu Xie's and chuckled: "Let's not talk about money. You might not know me well yet... I’m not interested in money!"
"If you really want to win me over, you need to show a bit more sincerity. Money is such a vulgar thing, don't you think?"
"Fine!" A-Ning gave Wu Yu a deep look: "We will make sure you see our sincerity."
After the trip to the Palace of King Lu Shang, A-Ning had reported back to the company and to Mr. Qiao De-kao, and even he had been stunned.
In his understanding, the "Small Brother" was already at the ceiling of combat power, but because of his reclusive and unpredictable personality, combined with the fact that he seemed a bit slow-witted, he wasn't someone Qiao De-kao held in high regard.
Over the years, Qiao De-kao had recruited many experts, but he had never encountered a terrifying powerhouse like Wu Yu. His interest was self-evident.
Especially after learning that Wu Yu was the grandson of his old friend, Wu Lao-gou, he developed some hidden designs on him!
With his understanding of the Wu family, he felt confident.
"So, Fatty, are you the helper A-Ning hired this time?" Inside the cabin, Wu Xie couldn't help but ask.
"Exactly! These companies, operating under the guise of marine exploration or scientific research, look all professional and proper, but they’re actually doing the same dirty work as us tomb raiders," Fatty said with a look of disdain. "It’s just that these foreigners lack the historical depth of our country. They don't even know where their ancestors are buried, so they’ve turned their eyes to shipwrecks. After all, countless ships have met with accidents at sea throughout history. Finding just one is enough to live on for a lifetime."
"One ship is like ten tombs; shipwrecks are indeed more valuable," Wu Yu nodded. "Especially if found in international waters, they don't belong to any country. If news of a discovery leaks out, it could even trigger a war or a scramble for the spoils!"
"Is it really that brutal?" Wu Xie exclaimed: "But this should be simple, right? Just find the location and salvage it. It’s not like our tombs, where all sorts of bizarre things can pop up."
"That’s where you're wrong," Wu Yu patted Wu Xie's shoulder: "You should know that our country also has a tradition of sea burials. We can handle most things on land, but the sea sometimes holds even stranger, more inconceivable things. You have to be extra careful."

"Sigh! I really don't know what Third Uncle is thinking!" Wu Xie sighed, unable to wrap his head around it.
After settling in, the captain came to call everyone for dinner in the evening. As soon as he sat at the table, Wu Yu’s gaze was drawn to a man with a receding hairline.
That familiar aura, and the sharp blade energy emanating from the painting tube beside him—Wu Yu couldn't help but burst into laughter the moment he sat down.
Good grief, while he knew from the original story that the Small Brother would disguise himself to sneak in, he hadn't thought much of it. But seeing it in person, Wu Yu couldn't hold it back anymore.
He didn't understand if this was some weird sense of humor on the Small Brother's part; why did he have to choose such a disguise?
It was completely at odds with his usual cold, aloof persona!
"Oh my, what’s wrong with this little brother? Are you seasick? I have some special medicine here, would you like some?" Zhang Qi-ling seemed to realize his disguise couldn't fool Wu Yu, but he didn't want to expose his identity yet. He held his hands out to Wu Yu as if to help, but behind his back, hidden from view, he pinched Wu Yu hard.
"Hiss!" Wu Yu rolled his eyes in annoyance. He never expected the usually benevolent-looking Zhang Qi-ling to do something like this!
"Heh, thanks, but no thanks. I’m holding up fine!" Wu Yu squeezed out a smile and then looked at A-Ning: "And this is..."
"I am Zhang, Zhang Hao!"
"I have some minor achievements in oceanography, nothing worth mentioning! Really, nothing at all!"
"May I ask who you are..."
The "chatterbox + overly familiar" persona made Wu Yu admire how far Zhang Qi-ling was willing to go to break out of his comfort zone.
"Me? I play the zither. I was worried everyone would be bored at sea, so Boss A-Ning invited me," Wu Yu laughed, patting the instrument case on his back.
As soon as he said this, the crew members and the captain at the nearby tables suddenly cheered: "Well, we have to thank Boss A-Ning for that! What are you waiting for, little brother? Let's have a tune!"
"Skin so fair and tender, what a waste—if only he were a woman!"
"Hahaha..."
"With the way you're staring, even a man would make you lose your cool!"
In an instant, many crew members began casting lecherous looks at Wu Yu from time to time.

After all, A-Ning’s reputation was well-known—she was someone who had truly fought her way through battlefields—so they naturally feared her.
"Oh?" Wu Yu grinned: "Sure, since you want to hear it, I’ll oblige!"
As he spoke, Wu Yu turned around, and as he did, the instrument case was opened and placed on his lap. A fragrant scent wafted through the air.
"Fatty, Fatty?" Wu Xie saw the mischievous glint in Wu Yu’s eyes and hurriedly nudged Fatty, who was busy eating: "Plug your ears, I have a bad feeling about this."
With that, he tore off two pieces of tissue and stuffed them into his ears.
Seeing this, Fatty looked over and hurriedly followed suit. He wasn't joking—was this big boss someone a scoundrel like him could tease?
Zhang Qi-ling put on an even better show; after downing a bottle of white liquor, he slumped over onto the table. A-Ning looked at Wu Xie and Fatty, then did the same. She didn't know why, but looking at Wu Yu's expression, she felt a sense of foreboding.
Sure enough, the moment Wu Yu plucked the first string, Wu Xie and the others felt as if the space in front of them had suddenly twisted and become vibrant with brilliant, kaleidoscopic colors.
As the music grew melodious and high-pitched, one by one, all the crew members became mesmerized, stood up, walked back to the crew quarters, and started playing human pyramid!
"Heh, mission accomplished!" Closing the zither, Wu Yu smiled slightly: "Have a wonderful night!"
He then began to feast on the food. Ignoring Wu Xie and the others staring at him blankly, he finished most of the food on the table before pulling two wiretaps from his pocket and tossing them to A-Ning.
"Since we’re collaborating, pulling stunts like this isn't very interesting, is it?"
"Wiretaps?" Wu Xie exclaimed.
"Damn, A-Ning, you little lady, you have this kind of fetish?" Fatty couldn't help but chime in.
Fortunately, they hadn't discussed anything important in the lounge that afternoon, otherwise, it was hard to say what might have happened.
